As you celebrate your love for your partner – whether you’re looking for an exotic location to honeymoon, or have set aside some special time to reaffirm your bond with one another – picture a place of wide-open spaces and subtly curved horizons.

Picture a place that is as colorful as a wedding bouquet.  Picture a place where each day promises surprises that will inspire wonder and passion.  Picture a place that stretches from the dawn of time to a cosmopolitan present.

Picture South Africa – the Rainbow Nation – a country forged in the crucible of mutual love and acceptance of our fellows.  Picture Seychelles – an idyllic Indian Ocean archipelago straight out of a romance novel – where the most pressing decisions of the day are found on a cocktail menu.

Combining these exotic destinations, our Safari and Beach Honeymoon itinerary offers couples of all ages the opportunity to share a carefully curated selection of sights and sounds that will endure as surely as true love.

Cape Town – contemporary life and rich African culture collide in a kaleidoscopic commemoration of all life has to offer.  Africa’s number one city escape will let you dance the night away, and just as easily seduce you with her charms; both hidden and extravagant.

Safari – Luxuriate among Africa’s Big 5.  See the Circle of Life play out before your eyes, as species strive for survival in this rugged environment.  Our first home is the Earth, and here you will feel its heartbeat within you.    Let a canopy of stars bear witness to your affection and devotion.  Create special memories to last a lifetime.

Beach – Long, lazy day.  Cocktails with Umbrellas.  Azure waters.  Island-time.  Together-time.  Be gently pampered by subtle trade-winds and discreet care.  Let lapping wavelets caress your feet on moonlit beach walks; hand in hand.

Arrive In Cape Town South Africa

A friendly welcome awaits at Cape Town International Airport, from which you will be chauffeured directly to your hotel and home for the next four nights – The Cape Grace.

This grande dame among the local hotels is located in the heart of the prestigious Victoria & Alfred Waterfront development – a regal presence overlooking the tranquil marina; a sanctuary of understated elegance and intuitive service, secluded from the vibrant metropolis, and rich in romance.

Spend the evening at leisure, dining at the hotel’s highly regarded Signal Restaurant, accompanied by a sophisticated whisky tasting at The Bascule Bar.  Or perhaps you’d like to stretch your legs a little, strolling through the Waterfront and choosing from the choice selection of restaurants on offer.

Your lodgings for the evening are an exquisite mountain- or marina-facing room, tastefully decorated to reflect the Cape’s diverse floral and cultural heritage.  Both spacious and intimate; the room exudes the serenity of a bygone era, discreetly overlaying all modern amenities.

Cape Town & The Surroundings

For visitors from all points of the compass, part of the appeal of the Mother City – as Cape Town is fondly known – is in the wide array of attractions and activities one can choose from.  However few stand out as prominently as the monolithic presence of Table Mountain.

Since the first seafarers set eyes on her plateaued summit in the 1500s, she has drawn instant admiration from all who gaze upon her.  You may ride a rotating gondola up the cable car to the summit, from which to orient yourself with the city’s amphitheater-like layout.

On a clear day, you can Robben Island, on which Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for his brave stand against racism and apartheid.  Once a symbol of oppression, today it reminds us of the resilience of the human spirit and pursuit of freedom. Boat tours to the island and its fascinating museum are easily arranged.

At the foot of the mountain, visitor-friendly precincts offer a host of galleries, museums, markets and architectural landmarks.

In the evenings, Long Street comes to life as nightclubs, pubs and restaurants pulse to the beat of Afro-European accents as Cape Town’s glitterati celebrate love and life.

Aside from the Waterfront itself, the city has numerous shopping districts for those looking to pick up a memento of their stay.

The colorful houses of the old Malay Quarter – Bo-Kaap – celebrate the emancipation of slaves.  Indeed, there are many landmarks that attest to the country’s diverse ethnicities, cultural influences, and history.  Numerous cultural and historical tours criss-cross the city.

A short cab ride from the city center will take you to the glitzy enclaves of Clifton and Camps Bay.  Here, celebrities and starlets put their best foot forward; some even dipping a toe in the fresh Atlantic waters on dazzling beaches.  Others adorn the sidewalk cafes, hoping to see and be seen.

Don’t miss the opportunity to witness the dramatic geography of the Cape Peninsula – which stretches south into the ocean and to which the city forms a gateway.  Your concierge will gladly arrange a tour along the dramatic coastal roads, from which you might spot whales cavorting close to shore, surfers shredding the Atlantic swell or a troop of bold baboons resident at scenic Cape Point.

It might also be appropriate to visit the Boulders Penguin colony.  They pair for life!  Staying with the marine theme, there is also a world-class aquarium, while numerous ocean-going charters for sightseeing and sundowners add to the glitz.

Kruger National Park

From Cape Town connecting flights swiftly carry you to your next destination – Singita Boulders Lodge, located in a private concession within the Greater Kruger National Park.

Ever since Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor famously honeymooned on safari in Africa, a safari for two has been regarded as one of the most iconic romantic getaways.

In the early-90s, Singita revolutionized the safari tradition by fusing the best of African wildlife with international standards of hospitality excellence.  To this day, the brand is synonymous with safari par excellence, where your every wish and dream is fulfilled with consummate grace by an attentive yet discreet staff.

On your first evening, you have the option of a romantic lantern-lit dinner for two on the private deck of your bush chalet.  As you marvel at how effortlessly you have been transported from the city to the wilds of Africa, you will be serenaded with sounds both foreign and familiar:

Jackals howl, hippo grunt, insects chirp, frogs croak, owls hoot and zebra bray.  Then, mysteriously, a stunning silence descends.  As a primal shiver runs up your spine, you draw closer to one another, as first one and then successive members of the pride proclaim their presence beneath the stars.  The lions are on the hunt.

At last, you retreat to the spacious and beautifully appointed suite, where fine linens soak the last of your energy, lulling you to sleep.  Your suite has been creatively decorated to incorporate the tones and textures of the surrounding habitat.  Each of the suites has a fireplace, A/C, indoor and outdoor showers, and the outdoor deck encapsulates a private heated pool (the nights and early mornings can be surprisingly chilly from May through November).  Ever thought of game-viewing from a swimming pool?

The main lodge is the social hub of the camp.  Here you will find the dining area, bar, gym, spa, wine cellar, gallery and gift shop.  The lounge and deck area is the starting point for the variety of activities on offer.  As appealing as the facilities are, all who visit have come for the wildlife, and here too, Singita excels with aplomb.

The land on which Singita is located is a private concession and has been carefully managed to ensure the maximum sustainable population of wildlife, thereby protecting both the ecosystem and its inhabitants for future generations to enjoy.  Singita is home to the legendary Big 5 – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhinoceros and perhaps Africa’s most sought out big cat, the elusive leopard.  Through sensitive habituation to safari vehicles, it is now possible to view their shadowy lives in a manner that will leave you spellbound.

As any safari aficionado will tell you though, there is so much more to the African savannah.  Iconic species such as giraffe, zebra and hippo abound.  And the Sand River which flows through the reserve is a vital resource for a multitude of other species that frequent its banks throughout the day.  The endangered Painted Wolf, rare Pangolin and the occasional Black Rhino are special treats you can add to your bucket list.

In the cooler early morning and late afternoon, wildlife is generally more active, so it is then that your Ranger and Tracker will conduct exciting open vehicle game-drives.  You might even see some of the nocturnal residents caught in the spotlight after dark.  To work off those excess calories, you could also join a guided walk where you will learn about the inner workings of the local ecosystem.

Singita Boulders Lodge

Connecting flights will now take you to Johannesburg, where you will be transferred from the airport to your overnight accommodation at Fairlawn Boutique Hotel in upmarket Sandton.  Formerly a lavish private residence, the hotel property has been brilliantly developed and a proud tradition of service excellence has seen it voted as Best Boutique Hotel in the city.

The décor and styling at Fairlawns are derived from an eclectic mix of inspirations; from French Provincial to that of the Far East.  Each suite is tastefully decorated and opulently furnished – your room will be the ideal cocoon in which to transform from the rhythms of the savannah to those of a tropical island paradise.

The room is equipped with all modern amenities typical of a luxury hotel, and the attentive staff will be only too happy to bring an extra bottle of bubbly to your suite.  They might even have a few romantic tips with which to surprise your partner.

Other facilities on-site include a decadent spa, and a daily High Tea tradition boasting a fabulous selection of sweet and savory delights.

In the evening, you may choose to partake in an on-site al fresco or fine dining experience or take a cab to one of the excellent restaurants in central Sandton.

Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & Spa

A change of wardrobe is called for as you leave your safari gear in favor of chic beach attire.  Departing Fairlawns for OR Tambo International Airport you will fly on to the exquisite Mahé island – the largest in the Seychelles archipelago.  A short road transfer along the island’s scenic coast then brings you to your final destination – the renowned Banyan Tree: Seychelles resort.

This seaside resort is located on the incredibly scenic southwest coast of the island, overlooking tranquil Intendance Bay.  In what looks like the set of a tropical romance movie, beneath swaying coconut trees, colorful flowers and impossibly blue skies, the property is a heady mix of island life and sophistication.  Of hedonism and quiet introspection.

You will be accommodated in a luxuriously appointed, spacious villa, set right on the waters’ edge.  With A/C for your comfort on balmy tropical nights, your lodgings are lovingly decorated to reflect the cultural influences of the islands – India, France, Southeast-Asia – merging them with a distinctive Seychellois twist.  All modern amenities are provided for, while a private swimming pool is just outside if ever the adjacent beach feels just that little bit too far.

For many, island life conjures images of colorful cocktails, azure waters and endless strolls on quiet beaches.  Naturally, Banyan Tree offers all of these but there is also a wealth of activities to keep you entertained should you need a change of pace.

Water-based sports and activities are an obvious choice.  The resort provides canoes and snorkeling gear and will be happy to arrange SCUBA or fishing charters, while sunset cruises are always popular.  A special seasonal treat is going out at night to see sea turtles arrive to lay their eggs in the fine, white sand.

For activities beyond the resort, the concierge will gladly guide you to scenic trails, local markets, ziplining, rock climbing, golf, or cultural experiences.

Of Seychelles and romance, author Adrienne Wilder said,” Three years was more than enough time to decide whether or not we were right for each other. Thing is, I didn’t need three years. I don’t even think I needed three more days.  Could any Seychelles sunset be nearly as beautiful as him?”  While Martha Hunt said, “The most beautiful destination I’ve been to was the Seychelles Islands…”  We have no doubt you will be in agreement with these sentiments as your stay comes to an end and you prepare to return home.

Without exception, those who have been privileged to spend time with gorillas report a near-mythical experience, as if glancing into our ancestral past.  Sharing upwards of 98% of DNA, the link between our species is undeniable.  While they are massively powerful creatures – with males weighing over 400 pounds – they are by nature shy and placid.  Primarily herbivores, they spend much of their day alternating between foraging and rest.
